Security awareness training for small businesses in Europe
Short answer: A small company needs security awareness training it can start without a sales process, in its employees’ language, at a monthly price it can see in advance, and from a provider that answers questions directly. Large enterprise platforms are built for organisations with security teams and procurement departments. Opsinel is built for companies where a director, office manager or a single IT person runs the training alongside other work.
Many of the best-known security awareness platforms grew up serving large organisations: thousands of employees, a security team and an annual procurement cycle. A company with 15 or 60 people is in a different position. Training is run by the director, an office manager or the one IT person, alongside everything else. This article covers what such a company needs, where a smaller provider can serve it better, and when a large platform is still the right choice.
Opsinel is a smaller provider built in Lithuania, so we are not neutral. Below we say which facts are ours, and where a larger platform may suit you better.
What a small company needs from security training
- Little time to run it
- Nobody works on security full time. Adding employees, scheduling campaigns and assigning lessons has to take a few minutes a month.
- A cost known in advance
- The budget is approved by the owner or director, who wants to know the annual amount before signing anything.
- The employees’ own language
- A simulated email from a local courier, bank or public authority in your employees’ language tests something real. A machine-translated English template is spotted at once.
- Results a manager can read
- Who clicked, who completed the lesson and whether the team is improving, without exporting data to a spreadsheet.
- Someone to ask
- When an email does not arrive or a report looks wrong, the answer should come from people who know the product.
Where large platforms fit
Large platforms have real strengths: big content libraries in many languages, integrations with identity and HR systems, and the features a security team needs to run programmes for thousands of people. If that describes your company, a large platform is a sensible choice.
For a small company, the same model often brings steps that have nothing to do with training: prices available only on request, annual contracts with a minimum number of seats, onboarding through a sales call, and an interface designed for administrators who use it every day. These suit enterprise procurement, but a company of 20 people rarely needs them.
Why a smaller provider can suit a small company better
Here is how Opsinel handles each of the needs above. These are our facts; compare them with any provider you are considering.
The price is on the website
Self-Service costs €30 a month for up to 10 employees; each additional employee costs €0.95 (11–50), €0.75 (51–250) or €0.55 (251 and up). Prices exclude VAT. The monthly plan is billed by calendar month, and you pay by bank transfer against an invoice, with 7 days to change your mind. You can work out the price for your team in the price calculator.
You can start without a sales call
You create a free account and look around the dashboard with a sample company’s data. When you are ready, you activate the plan. From the employee list to the first simulation takes about 30 minutes.
Emails and lessons in your employees’ language
Templates are written in Lithuanian and English, with Latvian, Estonian and Polish available on request, and you can upload your own HTML template. Lessons are in Lithuanian and English.
The lesson comes straight after the click
An employee who clicks a simulation link learns straight away that it was an exercise and gets a lesson of about 15 minutes about that same email: which signs they missed and what to check next time. Entered passwords are never stored; only the action is recorded.
Reports written for the manager
The dashboard shows each employee’s result, departments, the trend over the months and completed lessons. You can download reports as a PDF or have them emailed every week, month or quarter. See what the reports show.
You write to the people who build it
Questions go directly to the people who build Opsinel and know how it works. We reply as soon as possible, and no later than within one business day.
If nobody has time, we run it for you
On the Fully Managed plan, from €70 a month for up to 10 employees, we plan campaigns every quarter, choose or write templates for your context, send the simulations and keep an eye on training. All you do is read the summary.
Email delivery is explained step by step
The dashboard and our guide for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace show your IT administrator exactly what to allow, so simulations reach inboxes and results are not distorted by automatic link checks.
When a larger platform may suit you better
A smaller provider is not the right choice for every company. Consider a larger platform if you need:
- simulations by text message, phone call or QR code: Opsinel sends simulations by email only and covers text message and QR code scams in its lessons;
- training in many more languages than the ones listed above;
- integrations with your identity, HR or security systems;
- a very large course library on topics well beyond phishing and everyday security.
If what you need is regular phishing practice, short lessons and clear reports, a smaller provider usually covers it with less effort and at a price you know in advance. More about the platform: how Opsinel works.
How to compare providers
Ten questions worth asking any provider are in How to choose a phishing simulation platform. The quickest check is the same everywhere: send a simulation to yourself and look at what an employee would receive.

Frequently asked questions
How much does security awareness training cost for a small business?
It depends on the provider and the number of employees: some publish prices, others quote on request. Opsinel costs €30 a month for up to 10 employees, excluding VAT, and the price calculator shows the price for your team.
Is there a minimum number of employees?
The Self-Service base price covers up to 10 employees, so a smaller team pays the same €30 a month. You choose the number of seats yourself and can add more later.
Do we need an IT person?
Not to run campaigns. Someone with admin access to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace needs to allow the simulations once, as explained in our step-by-step guide.
Can we pay monthly instead of yearly?
Yes. The monthly plan is billed by calendar month. An annual plan is also available; it renews automatically unless you cancel at least 30 days before the renewal date.
Which countries can use Opsinel?
Opsinel is built in Lithuania, and companies across the Baltics, Poland and the rest of the EU can use it.
